Whew what a day!!!! I can’t believe last year I actually never ate during the day (mostly because I slept until 3 or 4pm). I would live all day off gum/diet coke then binge all night. Somehow I thought this would keep me thinner, and for a while it did.
But when school started last year, I couldn’t sleep all day anymore beacuse I had class. To make it through school I had to eat more during the day. Plus I was way underweight and my doctors threatened to take me out of college it I didn’t gain.
My eating actually got better for a few months. Then, last January my night-time binges got bigger and bigger. Between finally eating during the day and STILL bingeing at night I gained 35 pounds in 5 months. This past June my nutritionist presented me with a new meal plan. She said it may seem backwards, but if I ate more during the day I would lose weight.
At first I resisted, but eventually I decided food could not be my friend anymore. It’s still painful and hard to eat every 3-4 hours, but I do feel better. At first my doctors kept me at a normal caloric level just to help my brain/stomach readjust (poor things were all out of whack!!)
Now I’m down to a weight loss level of calories but I feel like I’m eating more than ever!!! The day after a binge I’ve learned its important not to beat myself up or starve myself. I get up, eat just like I normally would, and move on.
It’s also helped I’m eating REAL FOOD now!! Nut butters, oatmeal, yogurt, and fish!! NOM NOM NOM!! These food not only fill me up, but leave me feeling energetic, not tired 🙂
Thats all for now, I’m busy updating my Recipe page!!! I’m super excited about my first b-stud (our cool name for our bible study group, duh) and Campus Crusade meetings if the school year tomorrow. Yesterday was my first RUF (reformed university fellowship) meeting and let me tell you there is nothing like surrounding yourself with those who really know God. They have already taught me so much and spending my time praising God makes me feel like He’s with me all the time (He’s always been there, ive just been ignoring him).
